I was doing some A/Bing with Reflektor in Don Gunn's studio yesterday, and it has a nice sound.
VALHALLA SHIMMER BITWIG FULL
I haven't played with TSAR-1R, but the full fledged version has a good sound and is easy to use. enriches my Reverb tool box?īoth of these are nice reverbs. I already have the Valhalla Room, Lexicon LXP, reverberate LE and UAD Plate verbs but sometimes I just want to something quick and easy with quality to use and this sounds exactly what I am looking for.Īfter demoing for a short time this morning on an already finished mix TSAR 1R fits in very nicely with the sound and with my workflow.īroad Q, but with my NI Reflektor and Softube Tsar-1R, which Valhalla minimizes 'overlap' ?. Thanks very much for taking the time to compare and share your findings and opinions. Thanks Softsynth, that's a pretty good synopsis. Here's a little about TSAR from the horse's mouth: All Valhalla reverbs instantiate 100% wet, don't they? Presumably because they expect them to be used most frequently on aux sends. Valhalla Room would be the one to compare to TSAR. Whatever the preset and whatever I do with the settings Softube is crisper and clearer but less characterful. Valhalla typically colours the sound more, this TSAR 1R is more lean with perhaps less soundstage depth effect (but make no mistake you can go for the cavern effect too with adjustment) but also less coloration, perhaps closer to IR hall reverbs (those from real halls) but not quite as realistic as an IR convolution.įrom immediate settings (and even after adjusting wet balance down)Valhalla changes the sample or the synth more than the softube product, but it does so in a pleasing way, it's more coloured but pleasing. You can increase the wet to dry ratio and still have a realistic balance on many patches. If anything the Softube product is the other way. The balance in Valhalla reverbs tends to need to be immediately turned down (since they are super wet) to get a realistic sound. It has a small GUI, a little dated simply by the size, but due to simplicity it won't matter unless using a very high res monitor such as a 4k model. However it simply sounds good so this will appeal to people and times when you don't want options, you just want a sound that you know. However you can cycle through them in the Reaper preset/patch window with the mouse wheel, unlike Valhalla. It also has far less patches/presets than any of the Valhalla reverbs. TSAR1R is far less adjustable in terms of settings. I will be demoing tsar when i get the chance. I already have valhalla room so would be interested in how it compares to that if possible. I know it's early days but how does it compare/differ to Valhalla in your opinion. No doubt others will have iLok already on their systems, know the procedure and think I'm whinging about nothing.Īfter all that palaver with installation I'm glad it sounds good.
VALHALLA SHIMMER BITWIG INSTALL
Valhalla has a better user interface (though this is extremely simple) and is infinitely less difficult to install that's for sure. I can recommend it even if you have all the Valhalla plugins or similar because it is different sounding reverb again. I'm almost annoyed it sounds good, as I was tempted to uninstall it and write it off.
VALHALLA SHIMMER BITWIG MANUAL
:)Īfter the horrible installation system (they deserve to lose sales for that horrid mess of a procedure) it is another really great sounding reverb.ĭownloading about 600mb of baggage and installation garbage, reading the manual to install it! then yes I can recommend it. I know Melda is always running 50% off something, but this is for everything they have, so if there's a particular plug you want of theirs that you've been waiting to come around, well, there you go. Melda Production is going to be running a 50% sale on all their plugs starting on Black Friday and running through the end of the following monday, European time (does Europe only have one time zone? Because that's what it said in the e-mail, just "European time," so if it's not accurate enough it's their fault, not mine, I don't live in Europe). Let's deposit any info of that sort here, so somebody who's wanted a certain plug or piece of gear but couldn't afford it may find it within their grubby grasp, or somebody holding back because of familial or financial responsibility can rightly punch that crap in the face and just quit being such a damn pussy already. Know of any crazy plug-in 90% discounts and where? Online stores blowing out tube amps at half price?
